Herbs

These are the Herbs we plan to grow this year.

Since we grow our Herbs from seed, availability is dependent on seasonality and germination rates which are difficult to project in advance. If possible, we will also be offering some select starts / seedlings for sale.

Anise Hyssop / Perennial - Aromatic leaves with a licorice-like scent. 

Basil / Annual - Dark and green varieties including some unusual varieties such as Lime, Cinnamon and Dwarf. 

Borage/ Self-Sowing Annual - A Mediterranean annual also known as starflower and a favorite of honey bees.  

Cat Grass / Annual // Cat Nip / Perennial - The traditional Cats' Meow. 

Chamomile / Invasive Perennial - The sweetly scented, daisy-like flowers are dried to use in tea. 

Chives / Perennial - A Common herb of the onion family used for flavoring . 

Cilantro / Coriander / Chinese Parsley / Annual - A common herb whose seeds are known as coriander while the leaves and stalk are known as cilantro. 

Dill / Annual - Only field grown varieties for sale. 

Lemon Grass / Annual - A sweet pungent, citrusy plant often used in Asian cooking and containing Citronella an oil with pest repelling properties.  

Lemon Balm / Invasive Perennial - A lemon scented and mint-flavored herb used for teas and cooking.

Satureja "Indian Mint"An intense mint flavour accompanied by a strong trailing habit. 

Spearmint / Invasive Perennial - A pleasant-smelling species of mint found in many products and teas. 

Oregano / Moderately Invasive - A common herb indispensable in Italian, Spanish and Mexican cooking

Parsley / Petroselinum / Annual - Both Plain-Leaved and Italian

Sage / Short-lived Perennial - Often called common sage, a small evergreen subshrub which is used as a culinary herb. 

Sorrel / Rau thom / Gowkemeat / Annual - Both Green and Red Veined varieties. A species of plant of the buckwheat family that has an intense lemony tang. 

Summer Savory / Annual - Used in teas, herb butter, flavored vinegar, soups, and stuffing.  

Tarragon / Perennial - A perennial with a very distinctive flavor that is necessary in many sauces.

Thyme Faustinol French / Perennial - A herb most often used to flavor meats and vegetables with little flowers in pink, lavender or white.
